The village of Durban-Corbieres is a mere 5 minute walk. It has a supermarket, restaurant, bar, bakery, newsagents (daily English newspapers available), pharmacy, bank (has outdoor ATM), post office, garage, petrol pumps, car wash, Cave co-op (local winery), doctor's surgery, boutique, some houses along the way even sell local honey! An on-site pizza delivery comes to the village once a week, a travelling butcher on another afternoon.

During the summer, the locals regularly have outdoor barbeques and socials on the banks of the river that runs through Durban. These gatherings are open to all, the locals are welcoming of their English speaking visitors. A great way to join in the local culture!
